Jayla Mayo

Peer Youth Ambassador of Access to Wholistic and Productive Living Inc., a participant and peer leader in the Promise Drug Free Community Coalition “Opioid, Substance Abuse Prevention, marijuana and Youth Mental Health Projects.

Youth suicide is gradually increasing in Prince George’s County, Maryland because of Mental Health, Substance Abuse and Opioid misuse challenges.

Our goal is to prevent and or reduce the health, social, and economic consequences associated with marijuana use, opioid misuse, substance abuse that may result in mental health related issues such as suicide among our peers in the county.

To meet our goal as Peer youth Ambassadors, we will reach out to our peers, conduct virtual education activities, distribute information through mass social media and online communication networks. Youth activities include: Peer Youth Ambassadors trainings, blogging, developing, and distributing prevention focused messages, participate in monthly round table discussions, youth symposium, social media campaign with area well-known celebrities and broadcasted on radio and youth coalition membership drive.
