Smoking Cessation Classes for Pregnant and Postpartum Women

This eight week class helps motivate pregnant and postpartum women to quit smoking and live a healthier lifestyle. Participants will work with a trained facilitator to develop their own quit plan, identify triggers to their smoking, learn effective stress management techniques, and how to stay smoke free. Classes are offered either at 1pm or 6 pm on the designated dates. Classes are free to everyone.

Childbirth Education Class

This 1-day eight hour comprehensive course will take you and your birth partner review physical changes in pregnancy, signs of labor including warning signs of preterm labor, labor progression, pushing, comfort measures and natural techniques for coping with pain as well medications used in labor. Your trained instructors will also discuss the role of the support person, vaginal and cesarean delivery and post- delivery care for both the mom and baby. All course materials will be provided. Participants need to bring a towel or mat and a pillow. Refreshments and Lunch will be served. Classes are free to Bright Beginnings of Prince George’s County clients and sliding scale fee for others.
